Song
1. Praise to God, the world’s creator,
source of life and
growth and breath,
cradling in her arms her
children,
holding them from birth
to death.
In our bodies, in our
living,
strength and truth of
all we do,
God is present, working
with us,
making us creators too.
2. Praise to God our saving wisdom,
meeting us with love and
grace,
helping us to grow in
wholeness,
giving freedom, room and
space.
In our hurting, in our
risking,
in the thoughts we dare
not name,
God is present, growing
with us,
healing us from sin and
shame.
3. Praise to God, Spirit in us,
prompting hidden depths
of prayer,
firing us to long for
justice,
reaching out with tender
care.
In our searching, in our
loving,
in our struggles to be
free,
God is present, living
in us,
pointing us to what
shall be.
Call to Worship
One: Wonderful
are you, God of creation, without whom nothing draws breath.
Wonderful are you, Christ Jesus, without whom our
world stays in the dark.
Wonderful are you, Spirit-Friend, without whom our
worship remains formal.
All: We
trust you, we love you, we yearn for more of you; we praise you for your
holiness,
beauty and inexhaustible love.
Amen!

Song
1. Christ comes to us as one unheard
in silences profound,
or marvels of a
symphony,
sublimity of sound.
2. Christ comes to us as one unseen
in beauties of the
earth;
a seagull's flight, a
sunset sky,
the miracle of birth.
3. Christ comes to us as one unknown
to share our joys, our
pain;
that presence felt, the
gift of grace
our peace and hope
sustain.
4. Christ comes to us at every hour
when strength and faith
are weak;
the smiles of friends,
encircling arms,
of reassurance speak.
5. Christ comes in unexpected ways,
surprising us with joy,
reminding that the light
of love
no darkness can destroy.
6. Teach us, O Christ, to recognize
your spirit everywhere;
make us aware,
responsive, keen,
your love for all to
share.
Prayer of Confession: Shared blessings
NOT ON PPT
One: Let us
pray.
One: Your generosity is extravagant, Jesus;
your
grace and mercy so freely given,
your
love and presence so readily available,
your
Spirit and strength so reliable.
All: We are so grateful for all of these blessings
that we enjoy,
and
for the goodness they bring into our lives;
we
praise you for your always coming Kingdom,
and
the abundant life it offers.
One: But, Jesus, we are also fearful,
that
your gifts may not be enough,
that
things may change
and
we may find ourselves in need,
and
so we hoard your goodness,
and
separate ourselves from others;
All: Forgive us for our little faith,
and
our selfish grasping;
forgive
us for our failure to understand
that
your blessings are always meant to be shared;
teach
us to stay always awake to your coming,
and
always ready to invite others in
to
the blessings you so freely share with us.
—silent
reflection—

Preparation Song
Open your ears, o faithful people,
open your ears and hear God’s word.
Open your hearts, o royal priesthood,
God has come to you.
//God
has spoken, God has spoken, Hallelujah!
And
God’s words are words of wisdom.
Hallelujah!//
They who have ears to hear the message,
they who have ears, then let them hear.
They who would learn the way of wisdom,
let them hear God’s word.
//God
has spoken, God has spoken, Hallelujah!
And
God’s words are words of wisdom.
Hallelujah!//

Hebrews 11:1-3, 6
NOT ON PPT
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for,
the conviction of things not seen. Indeed, by faith our ancestors received
approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word
of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not
visible. And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever
would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who
seek him.

Sermon
Fear or Faith
Please stand, all who are able.
Hymn
My hope is built on
nothing less
than Jesus’ love and
righteousness;
I dare not trust this
earthly frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus’
name.
On Christ, the solid Rock,
I stand;
all other ground is
sinking sand,
all other ground is
sinking sand.
When shadows veil my
Savior’s face,
I rest upon unchanging
grace;
in every high and stormy
gale,
my anchor holds within the
veil.
On Christ, the solid Rock,
I stand;
all other ground is
sinking sand,
all other ground is
sinking sand.
Christ’s oath and covenant
and blood
support me in the rising
flood;
when all around my soul
gives way,
Christ then is all my hope
and stay.
On Christ, the solid Rock,
I stand;
all other ground is
sinking sand,
all other ground is
sinking sand.
When Christ shall come
with trumpet sound,
oh, may I then in Love be
found,
dressed in God’s
righteousness alone,
faultless to stand before
the throne.
On Christ, the solid Rock,
I stand;
all other ground is
sinking sand,
all other ground is
sinking sand.
Affirmation: Love in action
One: Your love, O God,
is
an active love:
All: engaged,
involved,
immersed.
One: Your love, O God,
is
seen in what you do, not just in what you say:
All: in the blessing of children,
in
the meals with outcasts,
in
the touching of the untouchable,
in
your presence,
and
your self-giving,
in
your opening of the way to life
to
all who will come;
One: And your love, O God,
is
expressed through people like us:
All: as we share our wealth in simplicity and
generosity;
as
we share wholeness in care and healing
of
the sick and broken;
as
we share hospitality by being truly present
to
the lonely, the imprisoned and the marginalised;
as
we share peace in kindness, listening and acceptance
with
those who challenge us, confront us and threaten us.
One: As you have loved us in incarnate action, O
God,
may
we learn to be little incarnations
through
whom your love is expressed and experienced
in
action.
All: Amen.

Spirit, I have heard you calling (Thew Elliott)
Sung by Tony De La Rosa and the Rosettes
Prayer of Thanksgiving
Please stand, all who are able.
Song
How firm a foundation
for you has been laid,
by God in the Word, in
the sacrifice paid!
What more can God say
than to you has been said,
to you, who for refuge
to Jesus have fled?
“Fear not, I am with
you, oh, be not dismayed,
for I am your God, I
will still give you aid;
I’ll strengthen you,
help you, and cause you to stand
upheld by my gracious,
omnipotent hand.”
“When through the deep
waters I call you to go,
the rivers of woe shall
not over you flow;
for I will be with you,
your troubles to bless,
delivering you from your
deepest distress.”
“When through fiery
trials your pathway shall lie,
my grace all-sufficient
shall be your supply;
the flame shall not hurt
you; for I have designed
your soul to make pure
just as gold is refined.”
“The soul that on Jesus
has leaned for repose,
I will not, I will not
desert to its foes;
that soul, though all
hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, no
never forsake!”
[logo]
Sent out in Jesus' name,
our hands are ready now
to make the earth the
place in which the kingdom comes.
Sent out in Jesus' name,
our hands are ready now
to make the earth the
place in which the kingdom comes.
The angels cannot change
a world of hurt and pain
into a world of love, of
justice and of peace.
The task is ours to do,
to set it really free.
O help us to obey and
carry out your will.
