Song of Worship and Praise +

Coming with joy and singing to God, o yes, they’re coming with joy and singing to God;
Those on the pilgrimage of life, O God, and planting your peace and love.

Coming together hand in hand, our sisters and brothers work for peace.
They hope for a world more truly human:  of goodness and truth it will be born.

Song + Canto
Touch the earth lightly
Touch the earth lightly, use the earth gently,
nourish the life of the world in our care:
Gift of great wonder, ours to surrender,
trust for the children tomorrow will bear.

Los que en peligro ponen la vida,
trayendo muerte y destrucción,
Han abusado y contaminado,
nuestro planeta que es nuestro hogar.

Let there be greening, birth from the burning,
water that blesses, and air that is sweet,
Health in God’s garden, hope in God’s children,
regeneration that peace will complete.

Dios de la vida, Dios de los seres,
de la semilla, la nieve el sol,
en Cristo seamos reconciliados
y que la vida vuelva a surgir.

Canto de Esperanza + Song of Hope
Fieles a Ti, O Dios.

May the God of hope go with us every day,
Filling all our lives with love and joy and peace.
May the God of justice speed us on our way,
Bringing light and hope to every land and race.
Praying, let us work for peace,
Singing, share our joy with all,
Working for a world that’s new,
Faithful when we hear Christ’s call.

14.05.25 Easter 6A Reflection

God speaks to each of us as he makes us,
then walks with us silently out of the night.
These are the words we dimly hear:
You, sent out beyond your recall,
go to the limits of your longing.
Embody me.
Flare up like flame
and make big shadows I can move in.
Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror.
Just keep going. No feeling is final.
Don’t let yourself lose me.
Nearby is the country they call life.
You will know it by its seriousness.
Give me your hand.

Song
One:  We worship Christ!
All:  //We worship Christ!//
There is no one who will ever be like him.
One:  There is no one who will ever be like him.
All:  There is no one who will ever be like him.

One:  Christ is alive!
All:  //Christ is alive!//
There is no one who will ever be like him.
One:  There is no one who will ever be like him.
All:  There is no one who will ever be like him.

One:  Christ conquered death!
All:  //Christ conquered death!//
There is no one who will ever be like him.
One:  There is no one who will ever be like him.
All:  There is no one who will ever be like him.

One:  Hallelujah!
All:  //Hallelujah!//
There is no one who will ever be like him.

Call to Worship
One:  Because of the living Lord Jesus,
we can confidently say:
All:  We are never alone,
for the Counsellor, the Spirit of truth,
is with us forever.

One:  Bidden or unbidden, God is always present.
All:  As the sea is to the fish,
as the air is to the bird,
so is God to all who live by faith, hope and love...

One:  Blessed is our God, who has never rejected our prayer,
nor ever removed from us the love that endures forever.
All:  Bidden or unbidden, God is present.

Please be seated

Song
Eternal Spirit of the living Christ,
I know not how to ask or what to say;
I only know my need, as deep as life,
and only you can teach me how to pray.

Come, pray in me the prayer I need this day;
help me to see your purpose and your will
where I have failed, what I have done amiss;
held in forgiving love, let me be still.

Come with the strength I lack, the vision clear
of neighbor's need, of all humanity;
fulfilment of my life in love outpoured;
my life in you, O Christ; your love in me.

Prayer of Confession
NOT ON PPT

When we were dead in our sins, God made us alive with Christ.
Through our baptism, we were buried with Christ, so too are we raised with him by the power of God – so that we too may live a new life.

One:  Do you accept God’s call to resist evil, injustice and oppression in whatever guise they present themselves?
All:  We do.

One:    Do you truly and earnestly recognize your human limits and brokenness and desire to grow in grace?
All:  We do.

One:  Do you accept Jesus as the symbol of unconditional grace, the source of your freedom to act – to act boldly – in this world?
All:  We do.

—Silent reflection—

One:  Merciful God, we pray that as we confront our weakness and limitations, we will continually be confronted by your grace.
All:  Strengthen us when we doubt;
challenge us when we become too self-assured.
One:  Let us struggle for justice and meaning and love;
and be filled and surrounded by your spirit.
All:  And, O God, we pray especially that you will at all times
remind us that we are each others',
and that all of us are yours.
Amen.

Please stand, all who are able.

Song of Praise
Amen!

Prayer
NOT ON PPT

Loving God, by your Spirit lace streamers of holy joy through this time of worship, that we may be able to offer you something far brighter than duty and much livelier than religious solemnity. Let us worship you with love and love you with our worship. Through Christ Jesus our ever-living inspiration.
Amen!

Gospel Acclamation
All:  //Aleluya, aleluya, aleluya.//
//Aleluya, aleluya, aleluya.//
One:  The boundless universe belongs to Jesus.
Christ is the King of all creation.
All:  //Aleluya, aleluya, aleluya.//
//Aleluya, aleluya, aleluya.//

Gospel Reading
John 14:15-21

NOT ON PPT

Jesus spoke to his disciples and said, ”If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father-Mother God, who will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees her nor knows her. You know her, because she abides with you, and she will be in you.

”I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live. On that day you will know that I am in my Father-Mother God, and you in me, and I in you. They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father-Mother God, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.”

Reader:  The gospel of Jesus Christ.
All:  Thanks be to God!

Sermon

Please stand, all who are able.

Song
Love divine, all loves excelling,
joy of heaven, on earth be found,
fix in us a humble dwelling,
all your faithful mercies crown;
Jesus, you are all compassion;
pure, unbounded love impart,
visit us with your salvation,
enter every trembling heart.

Breathe, o breathe your loving Spirit
into every trouble breast;
let us all in you inherit,
let us find your promised rest;
take away our love of sinning;
Alpha and Omega be;
end of faith, as its beginning,
set our hearts at liberty.

Come, almighty to deliver,
let us all your life receive;
suddenly return, and never,
nevermore your temples leave.
You we would be always blessing,
love you as your angels love,
pray and praise for you unfailing,
wounded arms outstretched above.

Finish, then, your new creation;
pure and spotless may we prove;
let us see your great salvation
perfectly restored in love;
changed from glory into glory,
till in heaven we take our place,
crowned as saints, we ever shall be
lost in wonder, love, and praise.

Affirmation
All:  I believe in truth as a living Reality,
not captured in theory or a creed,
but revealed to those who love;
the truth of Jesus,
the Spirit of truth,
the truth of God.

Because I believe I trust,
not blindly but open eyed and bold
as a child climbing into a mother’s lap;
the truth of Jesus,
the Spirit of truth,
the truth of God.

Because I believe I serve,
not as a slave that serves a tyrant
but like farmers reaping a harvest;
the truth of Jesus,
the Spirit of truth,
the truth of God.

Please be seated

Prayer Song
Peace before us,
peace behind us,
peace under our feet.
Peace within us,
peace over us,
let all around us be peace.

Christ before us,
Christ behind us,
Christ under our feet.
Christ within us,
Christ over us,
let all around us be Christ.

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Song
Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
almighty, victorious, your great name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
not wanting, not wasting, but ruling in might;
your justice like mountains high soaring above,
your clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

Your life is life-giving—to both great and small;
in all life you’re living, the true life of all;
we blossom and flourish as leaves and as flowers,
then wither and perish—but naught dims your powers.

So perfect your glory, so brilliant your light,
your angels adore you, all veiling their sight;
all praise we now render as your angels do:
in awe at the splendor of light hiding you.

1.  Ho, everyone that thirsts:
Come to the waters!
here is an end to hunger:
Come to the feast!
and everyone who labors:
Come to the waters!
All you who have no money:
Come to the feast!
For this is life:
the waters of the Jordan:
for this is life:
the waters of your birth:
for this is life:
the waters that renew you:
O come to the feast.
O come to the feast.

2.  Let all who seek their God:
Come to the waters!
heed now the One who calls you:
Come to the feast!
the everlasting stream:
Come to the waters!
drink deep the Cup that saves you:
Come to the feast!
For this is life:
the floods that overwhelm you:
for this is life:
the streams of death and life:
for this is life:
the waters that sustain you:
O come to the feast.
O come to the feast.

3.  And all who are oppressed:
Come to the waters!
this is the feast of justice:
Come to the feast!
and you, the last and broken:
Come to the waters!
this is the feast of healing:
Come to the feast!
For this is life:
to die and rise in Jesus:
For this is life:
to share the life of Christ:
For this is life:
the bread and wine of justice:
O come to the feast.
O come to the feast!
