Hymn
Lord, you give the great
commission:
"Heal the sick and preach the word."
Lest the Church neglect its mission
and the Gospel go unheard,
help us witness to your purpose
with renewed integrity;
with the Spirit's gifts empower us
for the work of ministry.
Lord, you call us to your service:
"In my name baptize and teach."
That the world may trust your promise,
life abundant meant for each,
give us all new fervor,
draw us closer in community;
with the Spirit's gifts empower us
for the work of ministry.
Lord, you show us love's true measure:
"Father, what they do, forgive."
Yet we hoard as private treasure
all that you so freely give.
May your care and mercy lead us
to a just society;
with the Spirit's gifts empower us
for the work of ministry.
Lord, you bless with words assuring:
"I am with you to the end."
Faith and hope and love restoring,
may we serve as you intend,
and, amid the cares that claim us,
hold in mind eternity;
with the Spirit's gifts empower us
for the work of ministry.
"Heal the sick and preach the word."
Lest the Church neglect its mission
and the Gospel go unheard,
help us witness to your purpose
with renewed integrity;
with the Spirit's gifts empower us
for the work of ministry.
Lord, you call us to your service:

That the world may trust your promise,

Call to Worship
One: We
gather in the name of the living Christ to worship God.
All: Surely, God is in this place and calls us to
worship in spirit and in truth.
One: God’s
love is for you and for all people everywhere.
All: That we may share God’s love and life, may we
be renewed in the refreshing Spirit of the living Christ.
One: The
living Christ is with us.
All: Praise the Lord!
Please be seated
Song
One, then all:
For the beauty of the
earth,
sing, oh sing today.
Of the sky and of our
birth,
sing, oh sing always.
Nature, human and
divine,
all around us lies.
Source of all to thee we
raise
grateful hymns of
praise.
Prayer of Confession: God, Savior, Counselor
NOT ON PPT
Let us confess together
that we have not always lived as those forgiven, set free and united in Christ.
One: When we
play God,
pretending we know best for ourselves
and those around us,
and seeking to control what is uncontrollable,
We reveal our idolatry.
All: Forgive us and help us, O God.
One: When we
act like martyrs,
hiding our selfishness and brokenness
behind a mask of self-sacrifice
and self-righteousness
We reveal our lovelessness.
All: Forgive us and help us, O Christ.
One: When we
fail to be the people we long to be,
repeating the same mistakes,
forgetting the same lessons,
losing heart and running out of energy and
inspiration
We reveal our weakness.
All: Forgive us and help us, O Spirit.
—silent reflection—
One: Triune
God, we need you to come to us again
as God,
as Savior,
as Counselor.
Thank you that our forgiveness, healing and growth
lies not in how hard we work,
but in how gracious you are.
And so we pray, with all that we are:
All: Forgive us and help us.
For the sake of your
Kingdom.
Amen.
Please stand, all who are able.
Song of Praise
1. I am
that great and fiery force
the spark in every thing that lives;
in shining of the river's course,
in greening grass that glory gives.
2. I shine
in glitter on the seas,
in burning sun, in moon and stars.
In unseen wind, in verdant trees
I breathe within, both near and far.
3. And
where I breathe there is no death,
and meadows glow with beauties rife.
I am in all, the spirit's breath,
the thundered word, for I am Life.
Prayer
NOT ON PPT
The Word you spoke, and keep speaking, O God
is the life, the sustenance,
of all that is – seen and unseen.
The Life you gave, and keep giving, O Christ
is the recreation, the renewed birth
of every broken, wounded and sinful creature.
The breath you breathed, and keep breathing, O
Spirit
is the inspiration for creativity, compassion and
community
that connects and unites all that God has made.
Life-giving, Life-restoring, Life-fulfilling God,
our worship seeks to honour you
our hearts are devoted to you
and our lives are completely given over to you.
Amen.
Gospel Acclamation
All:
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia,
Alleluia, alleluia, raise a joyful song to God.
One: Christ
Jesus, make your word plain to us, make our hearts burn with love when you
speak.
All:
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia,
Alleluia, alleluia, raise a joyful song to God.
Gospel Reading
Matthew 28:16-20
NOT ON PPT
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the
mountain to which Jesus had directed them. When they saw him, they
worshiped him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All
authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that
I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the
age.”

Affirmation: Wholeness
One: God, whose word spoke life and creativity
into a formless universe,
and order to a nation of
escaped slaves,
whose strong and
compassionate voice challenged injustice through frail prophets,
All: we praise you.
One: Jesus, whose touch smoothed the broken skin
of lepers,
and brought a bleeding
woman back to health and belonging,
whose hand raised dead
girls, and refused to throw stones at prostitutes,
All: we praise you.
One: Spirit, whose breath restores souls and
bodies,
and whose presence
comforts the grieving,
whose fire ignites
compassion within us for the healing of the nations,
All: we praise you.
One: God of wholeness,
All: we celebrate the healing you bring to us and
our world,
and we celebrate the
promised wholeness
that awaits all of
creation
in your eternal reign.
Amen.

Song
My eyes have seen the glory of the
coming of the Lord!
You will find her sowing seeds of
love where grapes of wrath once poured.
May we, two or three together,
raise God’s justice high once more:
God’s truth still marches on.
Glory, glory Hallelujah,
Glory, glory, Hallelujah,
Glory, glory, Hallelujah!
God’s truth still marches on.
I have read a fiery gospel of
unmitigated love,
Of a Christ who is within,
without, below, around, above.
Let me be the one who turns my
cheek when push has come to shove:
God’s truth still marches on.
Glory, glory Hallelujah,
Glory, glory, Hallelujah,
Glory, glory, Hallelujah!
God’s truth still marches on.
Christ has sounded forth the
trumpet that shall never call retreat
Bidding each of us to sit and
serve at one another’s feet.
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer,
see the Christ in all I meet:
God’s truth still marches on.
Glory, glory Hallelujah,
Glory, glory, Hallelujah,
Glory, glory, Hallelujah!
God’s truth still marches on.
God is coming to the people on a
tidal wave of peace,
Bringing wisdom to the mighty,
that all needless strife may cease.
May we listen to each other, and
by hearing find release:
God’s truth still marches on.
Glory, glory Hallelujah,
Glory, glory, Hallelujah,
Glory, glory, Hallelujah!
God’s truth still marches on.

//I ‘ve got a crown up in-a the Kingdom
Ain’t-a that good news.//
I’m going to lay down this world
Going to shoulder up my cross
Goin’ to take it home to Jesus
Ain’t-a that good news
Ain’t-a that good news.//
I’m going to lay down this world
Going to shoulder up my cross
Goin’ to take it home to Jesus
Ain’t-a that good news
//I ‘ve got a harp up in-a the Kingdom
Ain’t-a that good news.//
Ain’t-a that good news.//
I’m

Going to shoulder up my cross
Goin’ to take it home to Jesus
Ain’t-a that good news
Going to shoulder up my cross
Goin’ to take it home to Jesus
Ain’t-a that good news
//I ‘ve got a robe up in-a the Kingdom
Ain’t-a that good news.//
Ain’t-a that good news.//
